Robert E.C. Jones, Jr., M.A., M.Div., Pastor

A native of Norfolk, Virginia, eldest son of Elder Robert E.C. Jones, Sr., and Mary Louise Jones, both deceased. He is a Vietnam era USAF Medical Corp veteran, who has served 15 years as an Insurance Specialist and financial services counselor for severely disabled military veterans and their families at the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Regional Office Insurance Center (VAROIC) benefits offices and National Insurance headquarters, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to his vocational retirement. Prior to the VA, he worked for 15 years as a leader in corporate administration, marketing, and operations in other national insurance businesses and national service organizations. He has directed business affairs throughout New England, Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Central U. S. regions. He has held various executive and management positions in organizations including Blue Cross-Blue Shield, Public Storage, Inc., and U-Haul International. He was nominated as a Cambridge national “Who’s Who” personality in 2010.

Pastor Jones has served Christians United for Haiti (CUH), Virginia Beach, Virginia, as Board President and the Director of Strategic Development. He is the Co-Founder and Executive Vice-President, Operation Feed 5000, Philadelphia, PA, and the Executive Director, Resurrection of Life Christian Missions, Inc., which are Philadelphia area 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations that provide humanitarian urban compassion ministries, self-help programs, emergency services aid, and other resources to assist individuals and families in domestic communities and abroad in Brazil, Dominican Republic, and Haiti. He has been a volunteer Hospice Chaplain at the University of Pennsylvania Medicine and Healthcare system and is a long-standing member of the Society of Pentecostal Studies. 

He is a preacher and teacher of the Gospel and an urban missioner with a passionate interest in urban economics and community development. He is active in the Church of God in Christ, Pennsylvania Commonwealth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction (PCEJ), where he serves in the Office of the Bishop as the Director of the Policy and Procedures and an Executive member of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Jurisdiction State Adjutant Corp. He, too, is an active member serving with the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Missions Department and a staff member serving with the Philadelphia West District Education Commission. He was appointed as the Interim Pastor at Theist Temple Church of God in Christ, Norristown, Pennsylvania, in April 2016. He was officially installed as the Pastor, Theist Temple – “The Passionate Church,” on December 15, 2016. In April 2018, Pastor Jones was selected and appointed to serve as Norristown Police Department Chaplain, Norristown Borough, Pennsylvania.

Pastor Jones is well educated. Beginning in 1981, he pursued business studies at Rutgers University, Camden, New Jersey, and urban studies at the Center for Urban Studies (CUTS), in Philadelphia. In August 1990, he earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Biblical Studies, at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and in September 1990 was ordained as an Elder by Bishop O.T. Jones, Jr., in the Church of God in Christ, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, 70th Holy Convocation. He earned his Master of Arts in Urban Studies at Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona, May 2012; he earned a Master of Divinity, Missio Theological Seminary, Hatfield, Pennsylvania, June 2016, where his focus of studies was centered on pastoral ministry, urban missions, and leadership studies. At Missio Seminary, he received distinct recognition and award as an urban leader and Master of Divinity student with the highest academic excellence in his graduating class. Reverend Jones is currently pursuing a doctoral degree (Ed.D.) in Teaching and Learning with an Emphasis on Adult Learning at Grand Canyon University.

Over the past 40 years, Pastor Jones has lived, worked, and been engaged serving in Christian ministry. He has served in pastoral ministry at Christ Empowerment Temple, Lansdowne, PA, and Mount Sinai COGIC, Philadelphia, PA, as an Associate Pastor. In his earlier years in ministry, he served at Holy Temple COGIC and Sanctuary COGIC, Philadelphia, PA; he has also served on the ministerial staff at Prayer Assembly COGIC, Phoenix, AZ, and Agape Family Worship Center, Rahway, NJ.

He has been married to his lovely wife and ministry partner, Juanita Jones, for over 35 years. He and his wife have been in partnership together, operating a family childcare center in the Wynnefield-Overbrook community, in Philadelphia, for over 25 years. They have six adult children and five grandchildren. As a pastor and servant of God, Pastor Jones lives a devoted life advancing the Kingdom of God in servitude and serving God and His people.
