Evangelist Jennifer Thompkins

Youth Department Director

Evangelist Jennifer (Jenn) Thompkins was born to Deacon Leonard and Evangelist Ivory Thompkins. She was reared in Norristown, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Norristown High School. She continued collegiate studies at Ursinus College and Harvard University where she earned a bachelor’s degree and a postsecondary degree. 


She was spiritually mentored under the ministry of Theist Temple Church of God in Christ. She was appointed as Youth Director under the prior pastoral ministry of Elder Abraham Wade, Jr. In 2012, she was appointed Chairlady, Youth Department, Pennsylvania Commonwealth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, Bishop Guy L. Glimp, Jurisdictional Bishop. In September 2022, she was licensed as an “Evangelist” by the Church of God in Christ Church, under the pastorate of Elder Robert E.C. Jones, Jr.  


Currently, Evangelist Jenn Thompkins holds a leading community role as President and CEO of the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League, Wilmington, Delaware, after exceling through a myriad of professional experiences. In 2011, Evangelist Jenn also formed her own college coaching business to help underrepresented minority youth who had scholarly plans and ambitions to achieve postsecondary educational goals. Since the inception of her private coaching profession Evangelist Jenn has helped over 100 students and families. 


Collectively, Evangelist Jenn has served in many other community capacities: including Norristown NAACP Youth Chapter Advisor (2017-2020), Y Achievers Board Member (2017-2021), Mothers with Sons Organization Board Member, City Year Philadelphia Associate Board Member (2020-2022), and as R.O.S.E. Foundation Board Member. Evangelist Jenn is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where she serves as her chapter’s Scholarship Chair. Other accomplishments and recognitions include awards such as PCEJ Young Women of Excellence (2001), Elizabeth B. White History Award (2009), Rising Star Alumni Award for Ursinus College (2020), National Urban League and Her Story Award (2023) 

Evangelist Jenn has been an inspiration to a plethora of diverse youth. With the many experiences, Evangelist Jenn always reminds herself and follows the African proverb, “Those who learn, teach!”
